Dog Days, Decade, Dono
Hey folks! I hope everyone has been able to chill out a bit this summer. It’s getting harder to do these days 🥵☀️
I’m about to turn 30, and I’ve decided that it’s a about time I finished the process of creating a digital presence for my work. (That’s a process I started a bit before I went fully freelance… in 2021. Oops.) That means my media instagram finally has content and my website is almost up!
Some fun music coming this Leo season. Check it out.
tl;dr: playing a VERY fun pop gig this Friday at Pie Shop with Dono Dono // joining Will Tober at Rhizome on the 13th // special Lucy Bar hits this Wednesday and Thursday // a couple new recordings I’m part of just dropped
SHOWS COMING UP
THIS FRIDAY: EXTREMELY FUN MUSIC
This is going to be a party: Dono Dono at Pie Shop on H Street, this Friday. Dono is an old friend and a fantastic songwriter, producer, and performer, and his music is popping off right now — he just released his first couple singles (listen!!) and his band is awesome. If you know Pie Shop, you know that’s gonna be a jam-packed stage.
I’ll be on bass (the guitar and possibly keyboard varieties!) and backing vocals. Check the IG for some samples. Tix $15. Come hang out.
LUCY… WITH A TWIST
You might know that most Wednesdays I haul the upright bass down to Lucy Bar at 14th and Florida to play a set of low-key straight-ahead jazz with very old friends Dave Merlin-Jones and Mark Sundermeyer.
Dave is taking off this week, which means we have some special programming: Wednesday, Alex Hamburger (another old and very dear friend!) will guest on flute, and Thursday, I’ll be playing violin with the standard Thursday rhythm section of Mark on guitar and Jeff Cuny on bass.
Come hang out and have some (apparently) award-winning gourmet pizza!
BACK TO THE ‘ZOME
On Tuesday August 13th, I’ll be back at Rhizome DC playing violin with a band led by Will Tober, a fresh face in the DC jazz/creative music/whatever scene who has a really special sound on his instrument.
This bill is going to be STUPID. The other bands on the bill are one of my favorite DC-based groups, ¡FIASCO!, and the avant-garde trio Cutting Ceremony, which features two awesome Philly-based musicians Tracy Lisk 🥁 and Pete Dennis 🎻 alongside my dear musical brother Abe Mamet 📯.

CapitalBop is running a cool series featuring musicians who have serious photography pursuits, and the editorial team hit me up to be their third feature. Check it out!
ICYMI: LIVE TAPING WITH BRANDON WOODY
Recently I’ve had the privilege of working with Brandon Woody, an incredible trumpeter from Baltimore who is in the process of blasting off to the top of the modern jazz world, to create moving pictures that portray his original music. Below is a release from a live taping I directed/DP’d at Reginald Lewis Museum in Baltimore. It’s so dope.
